QR Code Access – Club Setup
QR Code access gives your members a simple way to unlock doors using the GymMaster Member App.
Before you start you will need these set up:
- GateKeeper installed
- Relay-wired door locks
- A screen mounted near the door (if using Dynamic QR Codes, alternatively you can print a Static Code. Details for both below)
- Member App access enabled in Settings > Advanced Configuration > General
If the hardware’s in place, the rest is straightforward.
Choose Your QR Code Type
You’ve got two options:
Dynamic QR Codes
Set as Default
Dynamic codes refresh every 60 seconds. They can’t be copied or reused, so these are more secure of the two.
These are ideal for main entrances.
Set It Up
- Log into GymMaster on the device that will display the QR code
- Go to Settings → Doors & Readers
- Click the QR Code icon for the required door
- Use the Kiosk staff role (User Administration > Permissions) to restrict access to the QR display only
- Mount the screen near the door so members can scan it easily
The page will display a live QR Code that refreshes automatically.
Static QR Codes
Static codes generate a downloadable file linked to a specific door. They’re valid for 12 months. They’re handy in some setups but less secure, so we don’t recommend them for main entrances.
Ideal to control access for an internal door.
Enable Static Codes
- Go to Settings > Advanced Configuration > Doors & Readers.
- Turn on Static Check-In QR Codes, and save
Download a Code
- Go to Settings > Doors & Readers.
- Edit the door. Click Check-In QR Code.
- Print it or display it near the door. Each code is tied to one reader, and expires after 12 months
For extra security, GymMaster checks the scanner’s location, so make sure your club address is accurate within Settings > Club Details > Address.
If the coordinates aren’t set correctly, check-ins won’t work.
