Marketing Attribution
GymMaster automatically records how each online sign-up found your club - the page they landed on, the site that sent them, and any campaign tags in the link they clicked - without the prospect having to tell you anything.
What is Captured
This information is captured once, automatically, the first time someone visits your Member Portal and again confirmed at sign-up. Nothing needs to be configured for it to start recording.
- Landing Page - the first page of the Member Portal the visitor arrived on
- Referrer - the external site (or search engine) that sent them to you, if any
- UTM Source, Medium, Campaign, Content, Term - the
utm_*tags from the link they clicked, if the link you shared included them (e.g. a Facebook ad, an email campaign, a Google Ads link) - Click ID / Click ID Source - the ad-platform click identifier (Google, Facebook, or TikTok) carried in the link, if present - useful for matching a sign-up back to a specific ad click
If a visitor arrives with no campaign tags at all (e.g. they typed your website address in directly, or clicked a bookmark), only Landing Page will be recorded - that’s expected, and still tells you they came in without any tracked campaign.
Where to Find it
Open a member’s record and go to Member Details > Marketing. If any attribution data was captured for that member, a Marketing Attribution section appears - click the arrow to expand it.
These fields are read-only: they reflect exactly what was captured at sign-up and are not something staff edit by hand.
Using it in Reports
Every field above is available as a column in the Report Builder under the Member source, so you can filter or group sign-ups by UTM source, campaign, referrer, and so on, the same way you would any other member field.
How This Differs from Source Promotion
Source Promotion (Member Details > Marketing > Source Promotion) is a different, older mechanism: it’s a self-reported answer - a prospect picks it from a list you set up in Custom Fields > Promotions (see Online Sign-Up Form), or staff set it manually.
Marketing Attribution, described on this page, is captured automatically from the browser and the link the visitor clicked - it doesn’t rely on anyone remembering or accurately reporting how they heard about you, and it works even when a promotion picker isn’t shown on your sign-up form at all.
The two are complementary: Source Promotion tells you what the prospect said; Marketing Attribution tells you what actually happened. Used together they give a fuller, more reliable picture of which campaigns and channels are driving sign-ups.
